A Family Business
Built on Glass
NUMAEX was founded by the Kacheria family in Ahmedabad in 1933. Three generations later, it remains a family-led business — still driven by the original belief that glass, crafted with care and designed with intelligence, can transform any space it inhabits.
What has changed is scale, ambition, and product range. What has never changed is the refusal to accept that “good enough” is ever good enough. Every piece of glass that leaves our workshop carries 93 years of accumulated knowledge about the material — its behaviour under light, its response to craft, its capacity to define a space.

93 Years, Seven Chapters
The Beginning
Founded in a small workshop in Ahmedabad by the Kacheria family. The first products were simple float glass panels for residential windows — but the founders' obsession with optical clarity set the tone for everything that followed.
Textured Glass
NUMAEX developed its first proprietary kiln-forming process, producing textured glass surfaces that could modulate light rather than simply transmit it. The technique, refined over decades, became the foundation of the Tactile collection.
Architectural Pivot
A pivotal commission — the glazing of a landmark Bombay hotel lobby — marked NUMAEX's transition from glass manufacturer to architectural glass partner. The project demanded engineering precision and aesthetic sensitivity in equal measure.
The Partition Era
The liberalisation of India's economy brought a wave of commercial construction. NUMAEX responded with the Shoji system — a glass partition engineered for the demands of modern offices while carrying the quiet elegance of the brand's heritage.
Luxury Interiors
A deliberate move upmarket. NUMAEX began working directly with interior designers and architects on high-end residential projects, developing the Paloma enclosure and Numa mirror lines specifically for luxury bathrooms and living spaces.
Light as Material
The launch of Luminous backlit panels signalled a new philosophy: glass not merely as boundary or surface, but as a source of ambient light. Architecture magazines described it as "the most significant product in Indian glass design in a generation."

Eight product lines. Partnerships with the finest architects and designers in India and internationally. A commitment to bespoke solutions that mass production will never match. And 93 years of knowledge about what glass can become in the hands of craftspeople who truly love the material.

Glass is glass. We do not try to make it look like something else. Our work celebrates the material's intrinsic qualities — transparency, light play, texture, and structural integrity.

Bespoke by Default
Every project is different. We do not believe in fitting bespoke spaces into standard products. Our team treats every commission as a design problem worthy of a unique solution.

We are proudly Indian. Our craft draws from centuries of artisanal tradition. Our standards are measured against the finest glass houses in Europe and Japan. Both things are true at once.
